Wow, it took me months to figure out how to get this blog on here, I'm not real computer savvy, and then once I get it on here, it has taken me another month to post a second entry. Anyway, I'll try to be more consistent........
There's so much to talk about in the horse world, I'm not sure where to start. I could write about my daily dealings with the horses, or special events like shows, or social/political goings on such as slaughter, abuse, etc. I'll get to all these subjects and more. But.......
Today I'm going to write about my riding. I have been riding my Arabian stallion, Silverado Bey off and on for about the last five years. But I've only been riding consistently for the last nine months. In May '09 I moved him to a saddleseat barn four miles from my house. I am able to take lessons on him on Saturday, Sunday and several weeknight evenings after work. Last October, I showed him at a local saddleseat 'fun show'. I have shown some horses in halter years ago, but I had never shown a horse under saddle myself, I have always had trainers show my horses.
But training and showing are VERY expensive, and you know, I'm not getting any younger, so I decided if I was going to have more fun in this business, I was going to show them myself. So show him I did. And have fun I most definitely did! I had a great time, I can't wait to do it again, in the spring I think. See the picture from the show on the Shows/News page.
I didn't ride today due to rain (again), but it should be a go tomorrow.
